Fields started to grow long before I became aware of them. Right from the beginning I was using a kind of "wavy" brushwork.
Here we go: a short story, with a sad beginning.
Early 1989 I had no more paints, brushes etc. What could I do? Being a single parent, getting ill, living in a slow non-dying state, someone had to take care of little Veronique. It seemed like there was no future. Couldn´t look anymore at the fiery frottage paintings.
Half a year of going down, down.
Friends arrived and brought a righteous gift of a canvas. Money came once more, and stretches, paints, brushes. The painter´s health returned, now with many, many canvases.
The day came when, still weak and unsure, a shaky hand takes the brush and tries to move it over the canvas, because without that particular kind of movement life is unbearable. This time I had no illusions - nothing to paint! And so I moved on. One wave brushwork only, soothing all the chaotic movements of the heart. One wave, few colours, utmost simplicity. A new phase of work emerged from the weakness.
