Galactic Sunflowers: Time to Shine!
Sunflowers, magic flowers, signs of the sun deities. Their secret light in a galaxy comes from the same source as the 17 million colors in my computer. Yes, it's that simple! Therefore, they bravely cooperate with each other in creating my paintings. In bloom they turn towards me, the creator. When I paint them, I take them to another dimension, galactic one.
The Fascinating World of Sunflowers
Sunflowers have been on earth for several hundred million years and come in about 60 different species, all native to North America. The sunflower has been an important symbol for many cultures, including the Aztecs, Otomi, and Incas, who used it to represent their solar deity. In my paintings, these magical flowers turn to face me as I capture their connection to the sun and the universe.
The Complexity of Sunflower Genotype in My Paintings
It's incredible to think that a sunflower has more genotype base pairs than a human. As a flower, it's made up of five tiny florets that ripen into seeds. The way each floret is angled to the next creates a mesmerizing pattern of parabolic spirals, with 34 spirals in one direction and 55 in the other. The flower's round form and pointy fire leaves bring together two opposing elements in perfect harmony, just like how my paintings capture the balance between the complexity of nature and the simplicity of art.
My brushes trace the relationship sunflowers have to the cosmos, their ability to turn their faces to the sun and absorb its light just as we seek our light in the universe. Thanks to painting, galactic sunflowers become for me a symbol of our endless search for meanings and connections.
