Georgia's Rich Cultural Heritage

Georgia has a rich cultural heritage, dating back to ancient times when it traded with many countries and empires. The Caucasus region was known for its precious metals, such as gold, silver, copper, and iron, which were mined there.

Georgia had advanced metallurgy and goldsmiths since the 6th millennium BC. The country also has a long tradition of winemaking, with 8,000-year-old pitchers unearthed. Georgian wine is known for its unique flavor and high quality, and it remains an essential part of Georgian culture.

The Rich History of Georgia

Georgia's history dates back to the Palaeolithic era, with Homo erectus inhabiting the region. The country's written history began in the 12th century BC with the appearance of proto-Georgian language. Throughout thousands of years, the Caucasus region has been a center of political, military, religious, and cultural rivalry and expansion.

King Mirian III proclaimed Christianity as the state religion in 337, and the Kingdom of Georgia reached its peak of power during the reign of King David IV and Queen Tamar in the 12th and 13th centuries. This golden age left a lasting legacy of great cathedrals, romantic poetry, and literature.
