The Dynamic Art of Hand-Painting by Wiesław Sadurski
In the winter and spring of 1980, I dove deeply into the realm of painting, my hand guiding each stroke with a mind of its own. These moments, rich with micro-times of feelings, were a whirlwind of colors and emotions, transcending conscious thought.
It was as if my hand, unburdened by sentiment, became a conduit for pure creativity, translating raw energies and emotions into vivid imagery. This period marked the creation of a series of paintings that truly embodied the spirit of the process.
The painting likes when the painter is in an extreme state
In the world of painting, emotional extremes fuel creativity. My canvas became a vibrant battleground for raw emotions, thriving on 'bad' things - chaos, confusion, intensity. I found myself caught in a tumultuous dance between individuality and universality, oscillating between isolation's despair and a joy of becoming myself. In this tempest of creation, I discovered that my ideal working condition was one of maximum overload. This was a period of fierce creativity, where I became a mere instrument in the hands of the painting, allowing it to shape itself through my emotions and experiences.
In those intense months of winter and spring, my studio was alive with a frenetic energy. Each day, I hung countless papers to dry, creating a cascading waterfall of colors under the ceiling. This relentless creative process, however, took its toll on my hands, leaving them somewhat damaged - a small price for the artistic passion that consumed me. But as the watercolors dwindled, it was time for a change. I turned to new tools and mediums. With painting knives, varnishes, sprays, enamels, and printing inks, I embarked on a new artistic journey. No longer guided by the spontaneous touch of my hands, but with the deliberate strokes of the knife, I continued to unravel the mysteries of creation. This transition marked a new chapter in my artistic exploration - a silent, yet vigorous odyssey into the unknown.
